About Brett

Brett T. Williams is a seasoned litigator and transactional attorney whose practice spans a wide range of legal matters, from small transactions to large, complex litigation. Brett has appeared in more than 80 different courts across New York and he brings the same depth of preparation, advocacy, and ability to get the job done to every court room and negotiating table.

Before launching the Law Office of Brett T. Williams, PLLC, Brett served as Deputy Corporation Counsel for the City of Albany; from this public service he gained a distinctive perspective on how government works, and how to hold it accountable. Prior to his time at the City, Brett honed his litigation skills at E. Stewart Jones Hacker Murphy, LLP, one of the Capital Region's oldest and most respected law firms.

Brett earned his law degree from Albany Law School in 2014, where he was an Associate Editor of the Albany Law Journal of Science and Technology and appeared regularly on the Dean's List. He received his undergraduate degree in history, magna cum laude, from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh and spent two terms as a Visiting Student at the University of Oxford.

Brett is admitted to practice in New York state courts and the Federal District Court for the Northern District of New York, and is a member of the New York State and Albany County Bar Associations.

A native of the Capital Region, Brett lives in Albany with his wife and two daughters and is a mostly-retired rugby player.
